NEW FRONT ENTRANCE OPENING SOON
BRIGHTON, N.Y. (OCTOBER 2009) Another project milestone is coming up soon! The new front entrance addition is scheduled to open on Monday, November 9th. At this time, the temporary entrance will be closed and all visitors and guests may begin using the main front entrance again... [PDF]

CAPITAL CAMPAIGN GOAL EXCEEDED!
BRIGHTON, N.Y. (JUNE 2009) The Friendly Home is very pleased to announce that our $3 million Capital Campaign fundraising goal has been exceeded! The Capital Campaign was launched over two years ago in support of The Friendly Home’s $22 million building addition and renovation project. “We are very grateful for the generosity of the many individuals, corporations and foundations who supported the Home’s Capital Campaign and helped us surpass our target,” says President/CEO James E. THE ELEVATOR IN THE FRIENDLY HOME’S MAIN LOBBY WILL BE OUT OF SERVICE
BRIGHTON, N.Y. (May 14, 2009) ATTENTION! The elevator in The Friendly Home’s main lobby will be OUT OF SERVICE beginning Thursday, May 21through August. As an alternative, please use the stairs, the elevator at the end of the art gallery hallway, or the elevator in the Transitional Care Center. The Friendly Home’s main entrance will be CLOSED as of Monday, May 18 through October. Visitors will enter the building and sign in at the
temporary entrance in the existing Transitional Care Center. All other functions will remain at the main Reception Desk, including mail, phones, security, Member sign-out and meal reservations.. [PDF]
NEW ADDITION TO OPEN IN MAY
BRIGHTON, N.Y. (April 1, 2009) The brand new south addition to The Friendly Home is nearing completion and will be “open for business” on May 13. CHALLENGE GRANT GOAL REACHED!
BRIGHTON, N.Y. (March 1, 2009) The Friendly Home is thrilled to report that the Million Dollar Challenge has been achieved! In Spring of 2008, a Challenge Grant was issued by the Chesonis Family Foundation, LeCesse Construction and an anonymous donor. For every three dollars donated to The Friendly Home’s Capital Campaign, a dollar would be matched from the Challenge Grant. So—when The Home recently reached its goal of raising $750,000, another $250,000 was added to that from the Challenge Grant, bringing the amount raised to $1 million! Click here for full story. [PDF]
ALTERNATE AUDITORIUM PLANS (LATE JANUARY—SEPTEMBER 2009)
BRIGHTON, N.Y. (January 16, 2009) In late January, The Friendly Home’s main dining room on the first floor will be taken out of service to allow for construction of the new Transitional Care Center. From this point through September 2009, the Auditorium will be used as the main dining room. As a result, recreational programs and church services will need to be held in alternate locations. CONSTRUCTION PROJECT MOVES FORWARD AS WINTER APPROACHES
BRIGHTON, N.Y. (November 25, 2008) Coming up the driveway from East Avenue, it’s plain to see that The Friendly Home’s construction project is moving right along! Despite the cold and snowy conditions, work continues to progress with the goal of fully enclosing the new addition on the south side of our property prior to the “official” start of winter in December. ONLY $212,000 TO GO ON CHALLENGE GRANT!
BRIGHTON, N.Y. (October 01, 2008) In July, The Friendly Home was very pleased to announce the Million Dollar Challenge Grant issued by the Chesonis Family Foundation, LeCesse Construction and an anonymous donor in support of our major building and addition project. CONSTRUCTION NOW IN FULL SWING!
MEET MIKE KNAPP, JOB SITE SUPERINTENDENT
BRIGHTON, N.Y. (July 18, 2008) – As anyone who has come to The Friendly Home recently knows, construction on our new building addition is well underway! Mike Knapp is the Job Site Superintendent from LeCesse Construction. Mike reports that site demolition has been completed. Service to two new fire hydrants is also now finished. CONSTRUCTION BEGINS ON BUILDING PROJECT
BRIGHTON, N.Y. (July 2, 2008) – It was a perfect morning for a groundbreaking! The Friendly Home broke ground on June 30 on a two-year, $22.4 million building project. “The new and enhanced surroundings will enable The Friendly Home to serve the needs and satisfy the expectations of a growing aging population,” said James E. FRIENDLY HOME GEARS UP FOR BUILDING PROJECT
CONSTRUCTION BEGINNING ON TUESDAY, JUNE 24!
BRIGHTON, N.Y. (June 24 2008) – We are very pleased to announce that preparations for The Friendly Home’s building addition and renovation project will begin on Tuesday, June 24. The first phase of this project is the construction of a 38,000 square foot addition on the south side of the existing building between The Friendly Home and Allen Creek Elementary School.
